First Edition shown below, published in 1993. Though extensively revised several times since, original copies are very rare and apparently coveted. I did all the design and layout of the cover and interior, as well as chapter illutrations, and all the typesetting of complex formulas, charts, and graphs. Tom Windas and I pulled a couple of all-nighters to meet out deadline!
I actually spotted someone reading this on the train a few years ago, and asked the gentleman where he got it. He thought I wanted to buy it from him, but he told me he'd never part with it, as it was hard to find a copy of the original printing. He warmed up to me after I told him I'd designed the book, and had to prove it to him by telling him to look inside for my name. (I guess the 6 copies I have stashed in a box somewhere are collector's items now!)
